Everybody really enjoys watching Claire Finley play electric bass guitar on stage. Always with a big smile, she is laying down the bottom notes with ease, holding the music together and having a great time doing it!

Claire is an electric bass player and a talented musician. Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Claire attended the Berklee College of Music, and received a dual major B.A. in Electric Bass Guitar Performance and Music Business Management.  Beginning at four years old she was trained in classical piano. She started playing violin in the fourth grade and played until she was eighteen. While other kids were being driven to soccer games, Claire’s parents were driving her to music lessons and piano recitals.  Her supportive parents always encouraged her with her music: “I am a a musician today because I had that support from my parents. My mom was giving me the opportunities that she didn’t have when she was a kid.”

Then one day young Claire saw a jazz band performance at school and noticed the bass player was playing with an electric Rickenbacker bass. That’s when Claire decided that’s what she wanted to do. “I Love playing every type of music and that’s the fun part with playing bass guitar. I especially love playing the blues…thats why I am so excited about the upcoming Blues Ramble.”

Claire first came to Key West in 2010 after getting a call from Jeff Clark to play a wedding with him. She had met Jeff in Boston while playing with him in the music group “Entrain”. She came down to play the wedding and fell in love with Key West. “Now Key West is my home. Living and playing music in Key west is like being on tour but everyone comes to you. I play music on my own terms. It’s what I do for work so when i travel on vacation I really see the world.”

Claire’s main gig is playing in the band “Key Lime Pirates” with Jeff Clark and Randy Morrow.

Her bass playing in high demand, Claire is also busy working with four other bands: TACKLEBOXX, Sodalite, Claire’s Outfit, and the Skank. “Thanks to everyone for making feel so welcome in Key West. It feels good to be a part of this incredible music family. The Sunday Ramble is a good example of people coming together to play and have fun.”

Claire performs with TACKLEBOXX Wednesdays at the Smokin Tuna, will be performing with TACKLEBOXX at the Smokin Tuna on November 11 and November 18 as well as November 17th with the Key Lime Pirates.
