“One Human Family” has never been more accurate with this diverse duo, bringing Shastina Chiles (15) from Bermuda and Myles Mancuso (19) from New York to perform together and take Key West by storm. Child musicians turned professional, Chiles and Mancuso are making a name for themselves on this island as well as up the east coast.
Shastina Chiles was always a musical child, playing every instrument that she could and teaching herself how to read by singing karaoke. When Shastina’s parents requested that she commit to one instrument, she chose the guitar and, with the help of her mentor, Ray West, took off with her career. With the dedication and support of her parents and friends, Shastina has been playing up and down the Florida Keys for the past five years.
Miles “Arthur” Mancuso, like Chiles, has also been performing professionally since he was ten years old in places such as the Iridium Jazz Club, Kenny’s Castaways, and BB King’s in Times Square with world-renowned musicians such as Les Paul, Levon Helm, and Sid Bernstein. Myles’ story was nominated for an Emmy in 2012 and won a Cable Telly award in the same year. Levon Helm once said, “he may be a boy, but he sure plays like a man.”
With over ten years of experience between the two, Chiles and Mancuso have taken the Keys by surprise with their skill and musical diversity, playing in several different styles including modern country, blues, funk, and soul. Mancuso has a CD out titled “Truth” and Shastina is working on her songwriting skills so she can eventually move on as an artist.
