This Sunday October 11, sixteen of Key West’s best known musicians will perform the encore of The Ramble at the Key West Theater. What is the Ramble you ask? The Ramble is a showcase of local musicians coming together in a collaborative celebration of their original songs in a concert performance setting. Organized by Nick Norman and Jeff Clark, the show is two hours of singer songwriter and heart pounding rockin’ blues. The last Ramble in May was sold out and the audience delighted in hours of resonating music. This Ramble will be just as much fun and undoubtably performed to a sold out audience again. So get your tickets now!
Nick Norman described the Ramble as a true concert event: “The audience is able to participate in a concert performed by their favorite Key West artists, who sing and play their original songs in a wonderful theater atmosphere. And the artists get to the opportunity collaborate together and showcase their original material…. the show is as much for the performers as it is for the audience.” Having performed with these fantastic musicians in the last Ramble, I can tell you looking out across the audience and the performers on stage, it was hard to tell who was having a better time. The house was rockin’!
The list of musicians performing at this Sunday’s Ramble is impressive! Besides Nick Norman and Jeff Clark, the lineup features Caffeine Carl, Joey Marchiano, Ericson Holt, Claire Finley, Randy Morrow, Tony Baltimore, Tony Roberts, James and Robyn Whitehead, Greg Rue, Derik Reay, and yours truly. In addition, special guests Zack Seemiller and legendary blues master Bill Blue will join the roster for this show. Rumor has it Nick Norman and Bill Blue will be announcing something special for the next Ramble.
This Sunday Ramble will be very special also because it is the season opening show for the Key West Theater. Tap Johnson, visionary owner of the Key West Theater, closed the theater for the summer to allow for major renovations. Tap and Mike Marrero, Director of Theater Operations, have worked tirelessly since May, and given the theater a major makeover, with new lighting, curtains, stage, seating arrangement and sound system. Besides local events like the Ramble, The Key West Theater will be featuring national talent in the weeks to come, with artists like the Indigo Girls, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
